Important Information for our Members
Brattleboro RacquetSports is a private corporation whose 200 shareholders
are members of the Brattleboro community.
General Policies
1. The playing year shall begin on November 1, and end on October 31.
2. The Club Registrar maintains the current list of players, shareholders,
and available shares and playing rights.
3. No transfer of shares or playing rights will be recognized by Brattleboro
RacquetSports, Inc if there are any outstanding financial obligations
to BRI.
4. The shareholder of record may only be any individual - not a family,
or a group, or a corporation.
5. Club privileges will be withdrawn from any player who has not paid
his/her dues/fees in a timely manner.
6. No one other than a shareholder may transfer playing rights.
7. The Registrar of BRI must be notified of all playing rights or share
transfers before they become effective.
8. No player may loan his/her key tag to the facility to anyone.
9. No pets or animals are allowed in the facility at any time.
10. A player bringing a guest to BRI must complete and deposit the guest
fee envelope with the required fee PRIOR to playing.
11. All players are expected to act responsibly and conserve resources
(heat, electricity, water) when using the facility.
12. Lost key tags will be replaced for a set fee.
13. Non payment of dues and/or fees for a period exceeding 12 months shall
result in the forfeiture of that share, and ownership shall revert to
the Corporation.
14. The Brattleboro RacquetSports clubhouse is a coeducational facility
and is used by family members of all ages. It is the responsibility of
all shareholders, renters of playing rights, and guests to conduct themselves
in a manner that will ensure a safe, enjoyable experience at the club.
All shareholders, renters of playing rights, and guests are expected to
behave in a manner consistent with the public nature of the club. Any
inappropriate behavior that causes discomfort to others shall be reported
to the board, which will take appropriate action, up to and including
the revocation of access to the facilities.
Playing Rights
1. Each Share of stock has only one playing right associated with it.
One playing right is assigned to one individual. For example, the shareholder
may retain the playing right for him/herself or rent the playing right
to another individual.
2. Each shareholder is expected to confirm player assignments by November
1 for the upcoming playing/fiscal year. Any changes in player assignment
at other times of the year must be made in writing to the Club Registrar
and accompanied by a change of registration fee, and the name, address,
telephone number and email address, if available, of all new players.
3. Unless notified of a change in writing prior to November 1, the board
will consider existing playing status to be extended for the following
year with payment of dues. Any changes will be made after that date upon
written notification by the shareholder and payment of any appropriate
fees. There is no court reservation fee or playing fee for anyone holding
playing rights.
Guest Policies
1. The current guest fee covers all individuals who are not registered
players.
2. Guests accompanying registered players may enjoy unlimited use of the
facility.
3. Anyone bringing a guest must pay the fee prior to play.
4. Anyone gaining admittance with a key tag not registered to themselves
will have that key tag confiscated.
Court Use
1. If the lights have recently been turned off it may take 10 minutes
to achieve full brightness. Cycling the switch will only prolong this
time.
2. Use of the courts will be open to all designated players of the Club
and their guests.
3. Any player has the right to reserve a court at the Club up to 3 days
in advance of the time he/she wishes to play by using the online reservation
system, which is linked to this web site.
4. Courts may be reserved for 1 hour between 6:00am and 11:00pm starting
on the hour or half hour.
5. Any court unclaimed within 10 minutes of the beginning of the reservation
period will be considered open to others.
